We meet on the second Wednesday of each month from September to May at 12.30 pm, and would warmly invite others to join us.
The monthly Friendship Lunch began in October 2003 and since its inception has proved to be a very popular gathering for all who attend. Originally known as The Seniors' Luncheon Club we prefer our new name and know that further explanation is unnecessary!
Rev Robert Wallace and his wife Barbara make a great effort to join us each month and we are delighted that friends from a number of churches in the area come along too. Numbers attending vary from twenty-five to forty.
Home-made vegetable soup together with wheaten bread and cheese, followed by tea and biscuits are the usual fare. We never have to ask for volunteers to make the soup and we are fortunate that two of our younger ladies are usually available to help with the preparation and serving. The food is excellent but the chat and renewed friendships which have evolved are of even greater importance.
Occasionally Joe Kennedy and Maurice Hull roll out the Bowling Mat or we have a light-hearted Quiz, but the consensus is that lunch and a good chat suit us best.
